Company structure unveiling across multiple jurisdictions leading to the arrest of assets in South Korea

Our client was provided with a corporate guarantee by a BVI registered company in support of a Chinese company. Subsequently, the Chinese company defaulted and the guarantor declined to settle.

How we solved it:

LSR traced the complex web of companies across four Continents including low-disclosure, offshore jurisdictions in the Caribbean. Several assets were identified, but were located in jurisdictions that were not suitable for arrest.

We ultimately discovered suitable assets located in South Korea but owned by a Hong Kong affiliate. The assets were successfully arrested, bringing the target party into meaningful negotiations.

Why LSR:

LSR’s expertise in unveiling corporate links in opaque jurisdictions and experience in discovering viable assets for security is unrivalled. We can discern what is important, from what is interesting. Our efficiency allowed the client to quickly resolve the dispute in another headline-making case.
